Wars and Hobos
Field
It was summer, 1863. They were on their way. Down to Chattanooga, Tennessee. I Julia, was standing in a field and I feel stupid because I have allergies, and I was standing by many flowers. Sherman’s army already hit Atlanta, and they’re now moving towards Savannah. I was in Charleston, South Carolina. I knew the Union were going to come up here soon. The leader of the march is Sherman. He is as hard as nails, and he has fought Indians. I ran to Mamma’s house as soon as I saw the fires and soldiers out in the fields. It was probably Ulysses’ troops. He was probably trying to get a hold of Sherman too. I found Mamma, and I got her out of the house while she was attempting to bathe our ferocious kitty. As soon as I grabbed Mamma, we ran like lions were chasing us. The North was trying to eliminate all of our resources in the South. That’s the only reason why they wanted to burn everything. We ran all the way up to Virginia, hoping there would be no Union Soldiers there yet. We found shelter with a giant group of hobos just sitting around roasting marshmallows over the giant campfire. Good thing I remembered to grab the marshmallow sticks.. We just heard that the North Army hit Savannah by the sea, and now it’s in shambles. Now they were going to be headed up North. Our house down in South Carolina is also probably burnt down by now, and we have no clue where our little kitty went. Even though she’s very ferocious, I hope she’s not by fires of any sort. We heard Sherman also had 6,000 men on cavalry. They were still headed up North. Hopefully they’re not headed for Virginia, where we are now. We were still with the hobos, and we were having a pretty good time. The battle of Gettysburg is also going on right now. I heard that the Union was winning so far. Mamma says once this battle is over, the rebels will not have enough people or resources to fight that much longer. She said that there weren’t going to be anymore giant battles anymore. That means Sherman’s march will be over. The burning and destruction will be no more, and we should be safe to go home soon, even though our house doesn’t exist anymore…
Gettysburg ended and Mamma was right. The North Army won. Sherman’s troops also returned up North. We also found our kitty stuck up in the tree waiting for someone to rescue her. We were so happy together, and hopefully it won’t happen again.
